Making Reentry Bac Pacs for the new year 2024 at Kaumakapili Church on Dec 4th, 2023. The goal for 2024 is 400 Bac Pacs for men and women exiting prisons on Oahu, about 30 each month at Halawa Correctional.
This upcoming week we remember on January 17th the illegal overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom and the nonviolence legacy of Queen Liliuokalani, who became a paahao-prisoner, imprisoned and under house arrest in Iolani Palace. She becomes a role model and example today for the incarcerated in Hawaii’s prisons, and the development of trauma informed approaches to rehabilitation and restorative justice. Please join with others on Jan 17th with the Peace March that begins at Mauna Ala, a special clergy/lay group will march together meeting at 9:00 am. Also please join in the 30th Anniversary of the Queen Liliuokalani Hookuikahi Interfaith Service at the Honpa Hongwanji on Jan. 19th at 6:30 pm.
