St. Stephen's Episcopal Church
St. Stephen’s in Wahiawa emerged as a faith community after World War II in a plantation town surrounded by fields of pineapple and sugarcane. The community then and now reflected a faith of the many people and cultures, but also came soldiers from nearby Schofield Barracks, the largest U.S. Army installation in the Pacific. The pineapple and sugar cane are gone now, but St. Stephen’s has become a diverse community of faith rooted in the historic Hawaiian culture and traditions of the Episcopal Church of Hawaii from Kamehameha I to Queen Liliuokalani to present.
The hope and vision of this post-war mission is steadfast and enduring to create a culture of peace and nonviolence for the children of the world, through the justice and reconciliation of God’s love in and through the acts of Jesus’ beloved community.
