It was a wonderful morning filled with much expectation for the summer paddling ahead in the sun and sea! It was good to see my cousin Arnold Iaea (retired Army Col.) and friends and make new friends, w/ Honey assisting.

The Hawaii outrigger canoe regatta season typically begins in early June and concludes with the Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association (HCRA) state championship on the first Saturday of August. These regattas are organized by various associations like the Oahu Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association (OHCRA) and the Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association (HCRA).

The Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association (HCRA) has 50 member clubs across its various associations. The Oahu Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association (OHCRA), has 22 member clubs.

The Queen Liliʻuokalani Canoe Race, held annually in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, is the largest outrigger canoe race (18 miles) in the world. It attracts thousands of paddlers from around the world
