On April 14, 2024, the province of British Columbia (B.C.) entered into an agreement with the Council of the Haida Nation (Haida Nation) recognizing Haida Nation’s Aboriginal title over Haida Gwaii, an island region of approximately 10,000 square kilometers off the northern coast of B.C. The Gaayhllxid • Gíhlagalgang “Rising Tide” Haida Title Lands Agreement is the first agreement of its kind and is a significant development in B.C.’s implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

FRANK COLLISON is a tribal elder and chief in the Haida Gwai Nation and has visited St. Stephen’s and Hawaii many times. He’ll be here for a few weeks. In January he will return to celebrate his 90th birthday!
Frank attended the Kawaiahao Church Friday Food Outreach w/ COFO volunteer Dr. Haaheo. Frank has been a member of the Pacific Justice and Reconciliation Center for over 30 years. Dr. Haaheo is the CEO of PJRC.
