Water is life – Ola i ka wai! Here the members and friends of St. Stephen’s blessing the start up of the Red Hill Defueling at Halawa Correctional entrance to Red Hill.
Makua with Kaena Pt. in the distance – Lono i ka makahiki, the god of the long clouds and god of the short clouds!
Makua Valley – so beautiful in the morning! We remember the live fire training and bombing in the days of old. The Makua Protestant Church targeted and destroyed. Today due to advocacy and peaceful resistance, nonviolent strategies, the bombing and live fire training has ended. The U.S. Army lawsuit now requires clean up of unexploded ordinance, environmental and cultural protection, and natural resources management.
Mala kalo at St. Stephen’s – Haloa Food Security. We mahalo the COFO Roanridge project promotes home and community gardening, support of agricultural and local farm development, food security and disaster preparedness. Grow taro and ulu!
Reading the Gospel on Christmas Day with Irene Scott is always very special, here out front pew members Mailo and Bryan. A wonderful BBQ lunch took place after services, steaks and vegetables, shrimp tempura, sushi, and chicken kabobs! A memorable Christmas morning!
