A Call for Greeters and Mentors — Walk Alongside Those Returning Home
Aloha kākou,
Every year in Hawai’i, men and women leave prison carrying more than their belongings — they carry the hope
of a second chance. Yet 54% of them will return to incarceration within three years. Too often, they come home
to no home, no work, and no one waiting at the door.
E Komo Mai — “come in, you are welcome” — exists to change that story. And we’ve made it easier than ever
to say yes.
Why This Matters?
Research consistently shows thatv aith-based mentoring programs can reduce reimprisonment
by up to 40%.
The difference isn’t a program — it’s a person. A steady presence. Someone who says, *”You belong here.
