Fake ‘awa (False Kava, Piper auritum) is a fast-growing shrub often mistaken for true kava due to its large heart-shaped leaves, but it is actually an invasive species. It features a root beer-like scent when crushed, grows up to 6 meters tall with white spike flowers, and spreads rapidly, unlike true medicinal kava. Yes grows very quickly
We must remember all our kupuna and how they took care of the land and fish hunted and gathered from the reefs and mountains….. We mahalo all our kupuna who gave life and land to be used by all. Aloha Aina – Aloha Ke Akua!
